ABOUT US
FAMU Farm Fest is an annual community celebration hosted by Florida A&M University’s College of Agriculture and Food Sciences (CAFS) at the Brooksville Agricultural and Environmental Research Station (BAERS) in Brooksville, Florida. This signature event brings together families, farmers, students, and community partners for a day of education, engagement, and cultural celebration centered around agriculture and sustainability.
Rooted in FAMU’s land-grant mission, Farm Fest highlights the university’s commitment to providing research-based knowledge, resources, and outreach that strengthen communities and improve quality of life. The event showcases the impactful work of CAFS faculty, staff, and Extension professionals while creating opportunities for the public to learn about innovative agricultural practices, environmental stewardship, and healthy living.
Farm Fest is held in recognition of Florida Emancipation Day, honoring the announcement of the Emancipation Proclamation in Florida on May 20, 1865. This historical connection reinforces the deep ties between agriculture, heritage, and the resilience of communities across the state.
Attendees can enjoy a variety of family-friendly activities, including educational exhibits, farm tours, live demonstrations, local vendors, and interactive experiences designed to inspire curiosity and learning for all ages. Whether exploring new agricultural technologies, connecting with local producers, or simply enjoying a day outdoors, visitors will experience the rich legacy and future of agriculture through the lens of FAMU.
FAMU Farm Fest serves as a bridge between the university and the community—celebrating tradition, promoting innovation, and cultivating the next generation of agricultural leaders.
