    MAY 17th 2025

    10am - 5pm

  • WELCOME

On May 20, 1865, President Abraham Lincoln’s Emancipation Proclamation was announced in Tallahassee, Florida. The Tampa Bay History Center in partnership with Florida A&M University’s Brooksville Agricultural and Environmental Research Station, invites the community to the fourth annual Florida Emancipation Day: A Family Reunion & FAMU Farm Fest on Saturday, May 17, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Chinsegut Hill Historic Site in Brooksville.

We will begin promptly at 10:00 am with the reading of the Emancipation Proclamation, followed by a processional to the FAMU Farm Fest. Join us for guided tours of the historic site, an agricultural showcase, health expo, and hands-on demonstrations. Enjoy live performances and a variety of food vendors offering regional cuisine.

For more information, contact Fred Hearns, curator of Black history at the Tampa Bay History Center, at (813) 545-3183 or fhearns@tampabayhistorycenter.org.

Exhibitor and vendor inquiries can be directed to Cheryl Danley, FAMU extension agent, at (352) 340-3991 or cheryl.danley@famu.edu.
